My 3D Printing Setup¶
Printers¶
And before you ask, yes I have a problem...
BambuLabs H2D¶
I am a huge fan of BambuLabs so it should come as no surprise that I almost exclusively use BambuLabs Printers. My main workhorses are 2x Bambu H2D Printers, each with its own AMS 2 Pro system to allow for multi-color prints. The Bambu H2D is ideal for my use case as most of my printing is done using ABS so the H2Ds enclosed and heated build chamber allows for flawless prints. The massive build chamber also allows me to print hundreds of dollars of product in a single print job.
BambuLabs P1S¶
My BambuLabs H2D Printers are the workhorses of our 3D Printing Farm but I maintain a BambuLabs P1S Printer with AMSs that I use for smaller print runs and to print some of my more obscure items that I do not sell a lot of. Right now, I primarily use this printer to print TPU parts.
BambuLabs X1C¶
We own 2 BambuLabs X1C Printers, these were the original machines that we used to start our business and they worked well for several years. They were eventually replaced by the H2D printers however we still keep the X1C printers around to be used as a backup if the H2D printers are down for maintenance or if we have a rush of orders.
BambuLabs has discontinued this printer but it is still a amazing machine that can still hold up against more modern printers.
Creality K2 Plus Combo 3D¶
Early on in our business, I needed a massive printer that I could use to print some items that were larger than what the BambuLabs X1C printer could do. We purchased the Creality K2 Plus Combo 3D to fill this gap. The Creality K2 Plus Combo 3D did a amazing job and helped us make it through a very busy holiday season due to its massive print bed and speed. Unfortunately, while this printer has proven to be very good, it has been sidelined in favor of the BambuLabs H2D printers. The Creality K2 Plus Combo 3D currently sits in a box in the basement, it can be used as a spare printer if needed but I will likely be looking for a new home for it in the hear future, it is still a very good printer, especially for those who want to print massive prints.
Anycubic Kobra 3 Max 3D Printer¶
This was more of a impulse buy as I wanted to try to mass produce a few specific parts that were selling well when we were trying to grow our business. Our BambuLabs X1C printers could print 16 of the specific part in a single print but I wanted to scale this up and the Anycubic Kobra 3 Max 3D Printer was able to print close to 78 of the same part in a single print.
This printer worked very well but we eventually moved all prints from PLA to ABS and unfortunately printing ABS should only be done in a enclosed and ideally heated build chamber so this printer has not seen any use in some time.
Tools and Accessories¶
Rechargeable Digital Caliper¶
I have owned countless pairs of Digital Calipers and have come to the realization that the button sized LR44 Batteries have become the bain of my existence. I have since moved to a Rechargeable Digital Caliper.
